I tried running Software Update but I already have the latest versions of everything.
After reading FAQ and checking other problems, decided to try installing frameworks separately in case that was a pre-requisite. (I thought the frameworks was included in XiphQT 0.1.5 - but hey, I am getting desperate now!).
Downloaded Xiph Frameworks (20060508) and retried installation of XiphQT - but still had the same problem, unable to select a drive to install on.
Tried a restart (just in case!) and then retried installation of XiphQT again but was still unable to select a drive to install on.
This is the first universal binary I have tried to load - I am assuming that it is supposed to run on a PPC machine? (I thought the Universal meant it would run on both Intel and PPC machines.)
FYI, my hardware summary follows:

I downloaded some zipped free .ogg files from the BrianJonestownMassacre (band) website and followed their sketchy and not very in depth instructions. Files now are unzipped and in .ogg format. i want them to play in Itunes. I downloaded the XiphQT components recommended for modifying the files to play in Quicktime/Itunes. For some reason after following installation procedures the OS claims the Software was succesfully installed but I can't locate it, (though the installer files & other stuff are on the drive.) It does not appear to be properly installed in spite of what the OS tells me. My drive has a partitioned with a drive for software and one for audio. All Itunes files are on the audio drive. What I want to know is how to get these files into Itunes so I can listen to the music. Even when incomplete, the end of the timeline corresponds to the end of the full-length media. The timeline is also shaded to show what proportion of the file has loaded, and the playhead will not move beyond this point.
When playing Ogg media like this. This progress bar feature does not work, the entire bar is shaded as soon as the player appears. The end of the timeline also currently corresponds to the end of the downloaded portion of media, meaning that when playing & downloading at the same time, the playhead will reach the end and then start to move erratically backwards and forwards as downloading continues.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/894Can't burn OGG tracks to CD from iTunes2007-08-28T19:53:39Zt3rminCan't burn OGG tracks to CD from iTunesI'm sure this is related to the various other limitations imposed by Apple's closed API, but I thought I'd report it as I didn't see a ticket for it.

Basically iTunes won't burn OGG tracks to a CD. In a playlist with mixed OGG and other formats, iTunes skips the OGG files (they appear greyed-out during the burn process) and only burns the natively-supported files. Using QT player with this plugin on a streaming ogg file uses between 10% to 20% of CPU power. In contrast Whamb 1.2 uses 2% to 5% CPU power on the same stream.
The ogg continues to stream after I hit the pause button, wasting bandwith.
QT player caches the ogg stream leading to odd behaviour. So after I close the stream window and attempt to open it again the stream will start at where I had first started in the last session and end where I had closed the session, not allowing me to go any further. I worked around this problem by emptying the cache in system preferences and then restarting QT player.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/811iTunes freezes system temporarily on Mac OS X 10.3.92008-10-31T16:01:15ZKenneth RoseiTunes freezes system temporarily on Mac OS X 10.3.9System Setup:

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Install XiphQT
2) Start playing an ogg file
3) The file will play fine for a while and then will suddenly stop playing while there is a lot of disk activity. The entire computer will not respond (Apple-Tab does not work, Force Kill does not work, mouse movement is laggy). After a few seconds, the disk activity will cease, the song will skip forward for the amount of time the song was delayed and all of the inputs from the keyboard will be executed.
For example, if the computer stalled for 5 seconds and I hit Command-Tab a few times, and maybe a Command-Q (for quitting), then when the stall is over, the song will be skipped forward 5 seconds and the Command-Tab and Command-Q keys will be processed.
Let me know if there is a way to determine what is causing the stall (any log files I should be checking? Is there a debug build available?).

When it should be:
Medication
Some of the other data is missing, but album and artist go in fine :) Track number is missing for example.
Just a heads up... does the same with other files too :)
Thanks

If I have a MP3 with that size and hit Apple+I in iTunes, it takes maybe 2 seconds, but for an Ogg of that size, it takes maybe 10 seconds and more. I created a debug build to see what's going on and found out that the whole audio stream is parsed which takes a while at 80 MB.
However, there must be a faster way, after all VLC or Whamp (another free player for MacOS X that can play Ogg) can both show the Vorbis comments within less than a second and are thus even faster than iTunes for MP3.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/759itunes does not import metadata correctly2009-03-11T18:17:25Zaeontechitunes does not import metadata correctlyThe track titles are not imported at all - the filename stripped of the extension is what shows up in the title column.
