( made available from http://www.language-lab.net/ ).
iTunes refuses to play this song, without giving any error messages and without crashing. Other applications (only tested on OS X with Cog) can play the file without apparent problem. Other .ogg files - even from the same site - play just fine in iTunes.
Is this a problem with the encoder, or with the decoder?

I just discovered the Xiph Quicktime Component as a way to play ogg files in iTunes. Unfortunately, the component does not seem to be compatible with the latest iTunes that comes with Lion.
A workaround is to start iTunes in 32bit mode. However, I am not sure how this will be available so it would be great to have the component work in 64bit mode as well.
Thank you very much,

I'm not sure where the Safari QuickTime playback actually broke, so I'll explain the full sequence of steps that I took. Admittedly, I misunderstood a few things about XiphQT, but still...
I first installed xiph-qt-full-0.1.5 and immediately got .ogg support in iTunes. Great.
But native .flac didn't work even after a restart. (and I didn't know that there is a difference between native and ogg flac)
So I read some problem reports in the QiphQT bug tracker and thought I had to install the framework package too.
After installing the framework package, .flac still didn't work.
Reading XiphQT docs again, I found out about the difference between native and ogg flac. Ok, thanks for the explanation at least.
The real problem: QuickTime support in Safari is now broken. video.google.com worked perfectly before, but now i just get a big QuickTime icon with a superimposed "?" on top. Starting the QuickTime player and manually opening the video URL just results in an error message: "Warning: Invalid web adress" (actually "Varning: webbadress är ogiltig", which is Swedish).
I'm a programmer myself, but I'm totally fresh with Macs, so I'd appreciate help with locating a more detailed error log (assuming there is one).

I’m using the opus command line tools to process microphone array signals (mostly 8 channel). If I set a bit-rate such that the bit-rate per channel is less than 16kbps then opus begins to downmix. I would like to stop this happening if that's possible but I can’t find any information on why it’s doing this or how to stop it.
Any thoughts/advice? I figured I could process batches of wavfiles with fewer channels but it’s a bit of an awkward solution.

After going through about 10 songs though, when I would press next track (with shuffle on), the program would freeze up and not respond, requiring a force quit. This behavior was duplicated. I uninstalled it, verified that ogg files wouldn't play, reinstalled it, they worked fine for a while, then after a bit they started locking up the program when they would be encountered in the shuffle.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/840QT player 7.04: Streaming ogg file uses ridiculous amount of CPU power and ot...2007-03-23T23:14:36ZGitlab BotQT player 7.04: Streaming ogg file uses ridiculous amount of CPU power and other quircks1.25 GHZ G4 Mac Mini 10.4.4 QT Player 7.04

Using QT player with this plugin on a streaming ogg file uses between 10% to 20% of CPU power. In contrast Whamb 1.2 uses 2% to 5% CPU power on the same stream.
The ogg continues to stream after I hit the pause button, wasting bandwith.
QT player caches the ogg stream leading to odd behaviour. So after I close the stream window and attempt to open it again the stream will start at where I had first started in the last session and end where I had closed the session, not allowing me to go any further. I worked around this problem by emptying the cache in system preferences and then restarting QT player.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/1312QT could not open a FLAC file2008-05-06T21:22:15ZDavid S. I also tried importing a FLAC file into iTunes, but after selecting the file and clicking "import" nothing happened.
I am using a MacBook Pro with 10.5.2 and Quicktime Pro 7.4.1.
Please let me know if there is something I am doing wrong or should be doing to make things work properly.
