The codec libraries are distributed under Xiph.Org's BSD-like

other programs, libraries, and plugins are distributed under
the GPL (see COPYING.GPL). The documentation is distributed
under the Gnu FDL (see COPYING.FDL).
--------------------------
It should be more clear about exactly which libraries are under the Xiph
license and which are under the GPL.
The website (http://flac.sourceforge.net/license.html) is more clear about what
libraries are specifically under the Xiph license. So it would be much better if
the module README aslo have the same info.
Also, it is not very clear why Flac wants to build GPL'ed plugins for the xmms
and winamp plugins. Since these plugins ship as libraries, it might make
more sense for them to be under Xiph. Perhaps this could also be explained a bit in
the README.
Thanks.
PS. I guess the component the bug raised against might not be right. Please move to the correct
component if I am worng.

Such a function would be very useful in cases where audio synchronization is essential, like video programs, or when trying to play the same sound on several computers. Obviously, its result would only make sense for live devices, but it could just return 0 for non-live devices.

This is usually the case when listening to net radio streams in ogg, so it's a bit bothersome. 2^31-1 bytes corresponds to about 3.4 hours of music at 16 bit 44100 Hz stereo.
The file http://www.ping.uio.no/~runehol/longsilence.ogg is 5 hours of silence encoded at -q -1, and is useful for reproducing the problem.
ogg123 -v -d raw -f longsilence.raw longsilence.ogg
will stop after 2^31-1 bytes written on a 32 bit platform, but on a 64 bit platform the whole file will be decoded.
My test platforms for this has been Debian sarge, on x86 for 32 bit, and ia64 and amd64 for 64 bit.

If I have a MP3 with that size and hit Apple+I in iTunes, it takes maybe 2 seconds, but for an Ogg of that size, it takes maybe 10 seconds and more. However, there must be a faster way, after all VLC or Whamp (another free player for MacOS X that can play Ogg) can both show the Vorbis comments within less than a second and are thus even faster than iTunes for MP3.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/773iTunes seems to import full file name as track name2005-12-13T08:14:31ZchsiTunes seems to import full file name as track nameHello,

I am trying to import oggs into iTunes 6.0.1 using the QT Components found at this site, but the track name does not seem to be set properly.
I try to import the file:
Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze - 02 - Medication.ogg
which has been fully tagged with all the appropriate data, and shows correctly in Cog/Whamb. When importing into iTunes, this appears as the track name:
Queens Of The Stone Age - Lullabies To Paralyze - 02 - Medication
When it should be:
Medication
Some of the other data is missing, but album and artist go in fine :) Track number is missing for example.
Just a heads up... does the same with other files too :)
Thanks

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Install XiphQT
2) Start playing an ogg file
3) The file will play fine for a while and then will suddenly stop playing while there is a lot of disk activity. The entire computer will not respond (Apple-Tab does not work, Force Kill does not work, mouse movement is laggy). After a few seconds, the disk activity will cease, the song will skip forward for the amount of time the song was delayed and all of the inputs from the keyboard will be executed.
For example, if the computer stalled for 5 seconds and I hit Command-Tab a few times, and maybe a Command-Q (for quitting), then when the stall is over, the song will be skipped forward 5 seconds and the Command-Tab and Command-Q keys will be processed.
Let me know if there is a way to determine what is causing the stall (any log files I should be checking? Is there a debug build available?).

Using QT player with this plugin on a streaming ogg file uses between 10% to 20% of CPU power. In contrast Whamb 1.2 uses 2% to 5% CPU power on the same stream.
The ogg continues to stream after I hit the pause button, wasting bandwith.
QT player caches the ogg stream leading to odd behaviour. So after I close the stream window and attempt to open it again the stream will start at where I had first started in the last session and end where I had closed the session, not allowing me to go any further. I worked around this problem by emptying the cache in system preferences and then restarting QT player.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/icecast-server/-/issues/887[PATCH] Multiple master servers for Icecast relay2018-06-15T21:32:52Zjcyr[PATCH] Multiple master servers for Icecast relayAt any time during the day there are 4 or 5 PCs or IP radios tuned to a common MP3 internet stream. In order to alleviate the traffic on my internet broadband link, I use an Icecast relay on my local network. It retrieves a single Shoutcast stream from the Internet and all the local clients get their streams from it.
Icecast has worked very well in that capacity but has always suffered from a minor shortcoming. Many popular Shoutcast stations provide the same stream through multiple servers. Unfortunately, Icecast 2.3.1 only allows the specification of a single master server for each relay section. So if that master server refuses the connection there is no way to tell Icecast to try an alternate. I've coded a patch to the Icecast 2.3.1 source that allows the specification of multiple master servers. For each relay, Icecast will try each of the multiple servers that can now be specified till a connection is achieved.
The relay section in the icecast.xml file now looks like this:
<relay>
<servers>
<server>
<ip>64.236.34.196</ip>
<port>80</port>
</server>
<server>
<ip>64.236.34.4</ip>
<port>80</port>
</server>
</servers>
<mount>/stream/1048</mount>
<local-mount>/stream.mp3</local-mount>
<on-demand>0</on-demand>
<relay-shoutcast-metadata>1</relay-shoutcast-metadata>
</relay>
If anybody's interested and in the spirit of open source development I've made the patch available as a contribution to the community. It can be downloaded at http://www.dillobits.com/icecast-2.3.1-patch.txt .

Basically iTunes won't burn OGG tracks to a CD. In a playlist with mixed OGG and other formats, iTunes skips the OGG files (they appear greyed-out during the burn process) and only burns the natively-supported files. Work around is to convert to AAC and then burn.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/914Lack of downloading progress causes erratic playhead behaviour.2007-03-23T23:41:22ZGitlab BotLack of downloading progress causes erratic playhead behaviour.With natively supported codecs – when viewing the file in a web browser, QuickTime knows the length of the file before it has loaded. When playing Ogg media like this. This progress bar feature does not work, the entire bar is shaded as soon as the player appears.
