I haven't verified the following, but I would imagine that this also means that you can't use the components to burn CDs and that Ogg Vorbis files will not play over AirTunes (as was the case with the old qtcomponents.sf.net version). While it is not severe enough to prevent me from using the component, it is a big aesthetic problem for me. This should be done the right way.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/1100can't get itunes to show new files on pc..2009-04-19T21:00:37Zdavidcan't get itunes to show new files on pc..I've downloaded and installed as described, and have the latest versions of itunes and qt, running win XP. One very consistent experience I have had since I began using the Internet in 1995 is that any plug-in I have to find, download and install (as opposed to automatically appearing in my browser), is a failure. Xiph is just like the others.
Too bad. I will not be able to play sound files on Wikipedia until it makes them so I can play them on quicktime or windows media player.Arek KorbikArek Korbikhttps://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/xiph-qt/-/issues/1239Doesn't Work2007-09-14T11:09:07ZGitlab BotDoesn't WorkI downloaded the version currently available for Windows, ran the installer, it installed in the QTComponents directory within my QuickTime directory, and itunes still won't play FLAC files.

Anyhow, currently this is my major pet peeve with respect to using flac files in iTunes. As of yet, with every flac file I have tried to import (using Fluke) I can not truly modify the genre in iTunes. When I try to change the genre and other characteristics it appears that I was successful since all of the data changes correctly in the iTunes window. However, once I begin playing the song it changes the genre back to the original. I have been using iTunes for many years and have never had this issue with mp3s. In fact, I have never had this issue until I tried to listen to my flac files in iTunes. I have been able to fix the tags using Tags (the program). This occurs on both of my intel machines (imac and macbook pro) running the latest operating system and iTunes 8.0.2 .
A side point is that iTunes also does not seem to recognize the info for Track Number, Number of Tracks on Album, and Year of Album. When I view the files in Tag all of that info is there. I am not sure if that is related or not. If I change any of these fields (excluding the genre) in Tag, I lose that information in iTunes. Very strange.

* better quality at all bitrates versus libvorbis-1.1.2 ![2], giving aoTuV better quality than other codecs (AAC, MP3, MPC, WMA, ...) ![3];
* support of quality down to -2 (32kb/s at 44kHz stereo), versus -1 (45kb/s at 44kHz stereo) of libvorbis-1.1.x;
* encoding speed 10% better thanks to the included Vorbis-OptSort patch (improve ordering loop).
aoTuV Release 1 is the 'stable' release, while aoTuV beta 5 is the latest 'beta' release. aoTuV version have been tested and found to have a better quality by the audio community (especially on hydrogenaudio forum ![4]) and this is the reccomended vorbis encoder ![5].
Note that, e.g., ffmpeg2theora binaries already includes aoTuV beta 5 patch.
