Genre of flac files can not be modified using itunes.
I saw this in a previous ticket, but that ticket was closed because they stated that it was an iTunes issue and the people stopped responding. Anyhow, currently this is my major pet peeve with respect to using flac files in iTunes. As of yet, with every flac file I have tried to import (using Fluke) I can not truly modify the genre in iTunes. When I try to change the genre and other characteristics it appears that I was successful since all of the data changes correctly in the iTunes window. However, once I begin playing the song it changes the genre back to the original. I have been using iTunes for many years and have never had this issue with mp3s. In fact, I have never had this issue until I tried to listen to my flac files in iTunes. I have been able to fix the tags using Tags (the program). This occurs on both of my intel machines (imac and macbook pro) running the latest operating system and iTunes 8.0.2 .
A side point is that iTunes also does not seem to recognize the info for Track Number, Number of Tracks on Album, and Year of Album. When I view the files in Tag all of that info is there. I am not sure if that is related or not. If I change any of these fields (excluding the genre) in Tag, I lose that information in iTunes. Very strange.
I have attached one of the flac files that I'm having problems with.
